63rd Annual General Meeting
Please be informed that the 63rd Annual General Meeting of the Singapore Polo Club will be held at the Clubhouse on Tuesday 23 March 2010 at 7.30pm.
Temporary Closure of LUSH Spa
Please be informed that LUSH Spa will be closed from Monday 8 March 2010 from 2pm to Friday 12 March 2010. Normal operations will resume on Saturday 13 March 2010.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support.
Wireless Internet Service
Please be informed that wireless internet service will not be available at the Sports Annex (Gymnasium & Internet Room) on Saturday 27 February 2010 from 9am to 1pm.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support.
Usage of Jacuzzi
There have been regular complaints about the use or availability of the Jacuzzi at poolside and the influx of young children that occupy this amenity. Please note children aged 10 and under are prohibited from using the Jacuzzi. Diving into the Jacuzzi from the surrounding area is also prohibited and a matter of safety for all users. We must ask all members for their cooperation with this request; in particular, the parents/guardians of young children. There is a wading pool for young children and we would like to give all members the opportunity to enjoy the ambience of our poolside area.
Installation of Lock at Gymkhana Avenue Gate
From now on, for safety reasons, the Gymkhana Avenue gate in the large paddock at the end of the jungle trail will be secured with a combination bicycle lock. Riders who use this gate will need to unlock and then RE-LOCK THE GATE after passing through it at the crossing to Bukit Brown - either in or out. The combination for the lock may be obtained from one of the following:
Dr Shetty
Sunny Oh (Polo Office) or
Jennifer (Riding Office)
Please note that this gate must be kept secure and locked at all times, particularly over the next couple of months while the polo ponies are being spelled.
Off season selling of Polo Ponies
During the closure of the field from 14 December 2009 till the end of February 2010, we shall try to spell as many of the polo ponies as possible, but as there is limited space, this will have to be administered fairly on the basis of a roster. Each pony will have around 2-3 weeks off in one or another of the available paddocks on Club premises, including the 3-4 new ones we shall have available within the jungle trail area. During the time a pony is being spelled, they will spend about two hours in the mornings and again a similar amount of time in the evenings in one of these paddocks. The horses will also be led (walking only) once or twice a day for the duration. It is probably a good idea to have the pony’s shoes removed.
During this period, owners will NOT be at liberty to simply put their own ponies into any paddock as and when they wish (as at present in the large paddock at the end of the jungle trail). This is to avoid any one horse being allowed to hog a paddock for too long, as well as to avoid incompatible grazing horses getting into fights. The usage of all the paddocks during this off season period is to be regulated and administered by Dr. Shetty exclusively according to a roster that will be maintained by him.
Owners should sign up their ponies on the signup list on the polo notice board stating the 2-3 week period that they prefer. Please do note that not all preferences may be accommodated.
Annual Polo Field Closure
The entire polo field (including the portions outside the boards) will be closed for annual field repair and maintenance from Monday, 14 December 2009. Polo is expected to resume at the beginning of March 2010.
During the closure, there shall be absolutely no walking of horses, riding, polo, stick & ball lessons or stick & ball practise on the polo field at any time whatsoever. There will be NO exceptions to this and excuses will NOT be accepted for any contraventions of the above.
Please note that while the Club polo ponies will by and large be resting during this period, there may still be limited polo riding lessons available (in the arenas) depending on the specific resting schedules of various ponies.
Dear Members,
Membership Cards
We are experiencing a notable number of members that are leaving their membership cards at the Club (F&B cashier). Effective from 1 November 2009, the Club will impose a $10 Administration Fee for the return of membership cards which are left more than 72 hours. The membership card will be returned to member via registered mail. No additional 10% discount on F&B purchases will be given to members with no membership cards.
Dear Members,
Credit Limit for Members' Spending
Please note that effective 1 November, the Singapore Polo Club will be imposing a Credit Limit for spending at the Club:
$5,000* for members with no horse/stable
$10,000* for members with horse/stable
*An increase to this credit limit can be made on request/application; for approval by the Finance Sub-Committee.
Once a member has exceeded this credit limit, all further expenses must be paid by cash or credit card; any membership discount will still apply on presentation of a membership card.
The credit facility will be re-activated when the account balance is reduced beneath the applicable limit. We now require this new policy as a result of the delay in settlement of membership accounts.
We ask that you adhere to our 30-day payment policy and thank you for your support and contribution to the Singapore Polo Club.

Safety on the polo field
The polo season has added action and excitement to the Club, with a notable increase in the number of patrons on the Verandah.
We must remind you that children cannot be allowed to play in the area (lawn, sand track or otherwise) surrounding the polo field during polo play as this is extremely dangerous. The horses can be “spooked” by sudden movements, including a child running near the field, or the momentum of the horse can carry it beyond the field of play into the surrounding area.
It is also possible for a stray ball to be hit beyond the pitch into the surrounding area. We want to avoid any unnecessary accidents and must ask for your compliance with this request. This rule must be actively enforced for the safety of the children, players and horses.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Club Management |
